2/22/2012 U.S. Containerboard Production in January Down 0.5% over January 2011 but up 1.5% from December
The American Forest & Paper Association released its January 2012 U. S. Containerboard Statistics Report today. Containerboard production was flat, losing less than one percent over the same month last year. The production was up, gaining 1.5% compared to December 2011. Since both December and January have 31 days, the month over month average daily production had a similar increased of 1.5%. The containerboard operating rate for January 2012 also gained 1.5 points over December 2011, increasing from 93.6% to 95.1%.

2/22/2012 JANUARY 2012 KRAFT PAPER SECTOR REPORT
WASHINGTON D.C. -- The American Forest & Paper Association released its January 2012 Kraft Paper Sector Report today. Total Kraft paper shipments were 118.7 thousand tons, a decrease of 14.2% compared to January 2011. Total inventory was 83.3 thousand tons this month.

1/20/2012 U.S. Recovered Paper Consumption Drops 5% in 2011
According to the December 2011 Recovered Paper Monthly Report published today by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), total U.S. industry consumption of recovered paper was 2.3 million tons, 7.5% lower than December of last year, and 3% lower than November 2011. Decreases compared to last month were observed across most grades of recovered paper except Pulp Substitutes and High Grade Deinking, which recorded small gains. These gains, however, did little to offset the more precipitous drops in Mixed, Newspapers and Corrugated. Overall, consumption of recovered paper in 2011 was 5% lower than in 2010. Inventories increased to their highest level for 2011, bringing days of supply up one day to 12, though they still fell short of the 922 thousand tons of ending stocks for December 2010.

The American Forest & Paper Association released its December 2011 U. S. Containerboard Statistics Report today. Containerboard production was flat, gaining only 0.8% over same month last year. The production was also flat when compared to November 2011, increasing 0.2%, however, the month over month average daily production decreased 3.0%. The containerboard operating rate for December 2011 was up slightly from December 2010 to 93.6% from 93.1%.

12/20/2011 U.S. Recovered Paper Consumption Drops 5% in November
According to the November 2011 Recovered Paper Monthly Report published today by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), total U.S. industry consumption of recovered paper was 2.4 million tons, 5% lower than November of last year, and 5% lower than October 2011. Decreases compared to last month were observed across all grades of recovered paper, with Corrugated consumption entering its 3rd straight month of decline, and Mixed consumption dropping 5% despite holding relatively steady over the past 4 months. Overall, year-to-date consumption of total recovered paper compared to the same period in 2010 has also decreased by 5%. Inventories, on the other hand, reached their highest point for 2011, bringing days of supply up one day to 11.

Containerboard production was down, decreasing 1.8% when compared to October 2011, however, the month over month average daily production increased 1.4%. The containerboard operating rate for November 2011 rose slightly from November 2010 to 96.5% from 96.0%.

11/22/2011 U.S. Recovered Paper Consumption Increases Slightly in October
According to the October 2011 Recovered Paper Monthly Report published today by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), total U.S. industry consumption of recovered paper was 2.5 million tons, 6% lower than October of last year, but 1.5% higher than September 2011. Modest increases compared to last month were observed across three grades of recovered paper, led by Newspaper consumption which went up 11%, followed by a 10% increase in High Grade Deinking consumption. Overall, though, year-to-date consumption compared to the same period in 2010 has now decreased by 5%. Inventories remained essentially flat compared to last month and to October of last year, but are still at relatively high levels for 2011.

10/24/2011 U.S. Recovered Paper Consumption Drops in September
According to the September 2011 Recovered Paper Monthly Report published today by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), total U.S. industry consumption of recovered paper was 2.46 million tons, 7% lower than September of last year, and 4% lower than August 2011. The decrease was observed across all grades of recovered paper, most noticeably in Pulp Substitutes at 10%. Overall, the year-to-date decrease in consumption compared to the same period in 2010 remains around 4%. On the other hand, inventories increased to their highest levels for this year, led by a 12% increase in Mixed inventories.
